Datganiad i Gydsefyll a'r Ymprydwyr Cwrdeg

Mae Leyla Guven, AS Cwrdeg a etholwyd yn ddemocrataidd i Senedd Twrci, wedi bod yn ymprydio ers dros 100 diwrnod ac mae bellach yn agos at farwolaeth. Mae ei hympryd yn galw am roi diwedd ar garcharu yr arweinydd Cwrdaidd Abdullah Öcalan. Mae arweinydd Plaid Gweithwyr Cwrdistan (PKK) wedi ei gadw dan glo gan Dwrci ers 1999.  Mae dros 300 o Gwrdiaid nawr yn ymprydio mewn carchardai yn Nhwrci, Cwrdistan, Ewrop, Gogledd America ac Awstralia. Yn Strasbwrg, mae 14 o Gwrdiaid wedi bod yn ymprydio ers mis Rhagfyr 17 i roi pwysau ar y Pwyllgor Ewropeaidd i Atal Poenydio (CPT) i gyflawni ei dyletswyddau ac ymweld a'r carchar ble cedwir Abdullah Öcalan er mwyn gwirio ei sefyllfa. Yng Nghymru, mae Imam Sis wedi bod yn ymprydio ers Rhagfyr 17eg yng Nghanolfan Gymunedol Cwrdaidd yng Nghasnewydd. Mae'r ymgyrch ryngwladol am ryddid i Öcalan ac ailadeiladu trafodaethau heddwch rhwng llywodraeth Twrcaidd a'r PKK yn cael ei gefnogi gan y TUC, GMB, Unite ac undebau eraill, Jer

Kurdish Hunger Strike Solidarity Statement

Leyla Guven, a democratically elected Kurdish MP to the Turkish Parliament has been on hunger strike for over 100 days and is now nearing death. Her hunger strike calls for an end to the isolation of jailed Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. The leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has been held mostly in solitary confinement by Turkey since 1999.  Over 300 Kurds are now on hunger strike in Turkish prisons, Kurdistan, Europe, North America and Australia. In Strasbourg, 14 Kurds have been on indefinite hunger strike since December 17 to pressure the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) to fulfil its duties and pay a visit to check on the situation of Öcalan. In Wales, Imam Sis has been on hunger strike since December 17th at the Kurdish Community Centre in Newport. The international campaign for freedom for Öcalan and reconvening of peace talks between the Turkish government and PKK has been supported by
